Ben Simmons is now a member of the Brooklyn Nets, after a lengthy trade saga. He ended up leaving the Philadelphia 76ers after sitting out for a large portion of the season. There’s no doubt that the manner of his departure left a lot of Philadelphia 76ers fans and other people upset.

Seth Curry has recently defended Ben Simmons, claiming that he doesn’t need to apologize to anybody. Curry claimed that “business is business” and added that Ben Simmons was “doing what he felt best for himself business-wise and personal-wise”. Nick Friedell of ESPN relayed the news.

“Business is business,” Curry told ESPN after Thursday’s shootaround. “I said from day [one], even when he was out early in the season, people were asking me if I feel like, if Ben comes back, should he apologize to us or whatever? I understand the business; he doesn’t need to apologize to anybody. When he’s on the court, I know he’s going to do his job and he’s going to do what he does. So I understand the business. He was doing what he felt was best for himself business-wise and personal-wise.

There were reports that suggested Ben Simmons was having mental health issues during his time on the Philadelphia 76ers. A change in scenery would definitely have the potential to help that issue, and it’s easy to see why Ben Simmons would want to leave an unfavorable environment.

Ben Simmons will now likely focus on getting ready to suit up for the Brooklyn Nets. He will be joining a team with a lot of star power, with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the roster currently. There’s no question that this is a good situation, and he’ll have a lot of shooting on the roster that will help cover his deficiency. Hopefully, we see Ben Simmons make the most of his opportunity and play well in Brooklyn.
