Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is a win away from being an NFL Champion. But before all the fame and success in Cincinnati, he was actually a pretty solid basketball player in High School, leading many to wonder what his career would look like now had he stuck with hoops.

In a chat with Taylor Rooks, he was asked straight up how many points he thinks he could score in a game, and he gave a pretty shocking answer.

“I could spot up in the corner and get 12 to 15, make a couple threes. You gotta put me on a team with, like, LeBron or Chris Paul or someone and I can just spot up in the corner and let them go to work and kick it to me, though. I’m just making threes in a corner, it’s not hard. I’m not gonna be able to guard any of those guys but I’ll be able to put up a fight.”

Scoring 12 points in an NBA game is a whole lot harder than it sounds. For reference, the average NBA player currently scores about 8.7 points per game.

While it’s highly unlikely Burrow could drop 12 or 15 off the bat, he might be on to something with his “sit in a corner” strategy.

Today, many players follow that model and wait for the ball on the perimeter as the star or playmaker looks for an opening.  Alongside Chris Paul or LeBron James, players get to enjoy an extra easy time on the offensive end.

Unfortunately, how many points Joe Burrow could drop in an NBA game will forever remain uncertain, but it goes to show how easy some of these players are making the game look.

Stars like LeBron James, who make everyone around them better, just have a way of creating opportunities for others and it’s no wonder why Burrow believes he can take advantage of that.
