In a clip that has quickly gone viral, Anthony Davis delivered a spectacular moment during Team USA practice by posterizing Joel Embiid with an emphatic lob dunk. The electrifying play has captured the attention of basketball fans worldwide, showcasing Davis’s athleticism and dominance.

The scene unfolded in a high-intensity practice session where Team USA’s best were honing their skills in preparation for upcoming international competitions. Davis, known for his incredible leaping ability and versatility, timed his jump perfectly to catch a lob pass mid-air.

With Embiid, one of the NBA’s premier centers, positioned to defend, Davis soared above him and slammed the ball through the hoop with authority.

Davis and Embiid, both integral parts of Team USA, are vying for the starting spot as the team typically prefers to go with just one big man in the lineup. Despite Davis’s defensive prowess, Embiid is the likely first choice due to his offensive dominance and recent accolades, including winning the MVP award in 2023.

Embiid’s unstoppable offensive skills were on full display last season, as he averaged 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 52.9% from the field and 38.8% from beyond the arc. His performance, albeit in an injury-shortened season, was nothing short of remarkable, and many believe he would have won the MVP award again if he had stayed healthy.

On the other hand, Davis is renowned for his defensive capabilities, which are arguably superior to Embiid’s. Davis had a stellar season as well, averaging 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 55.6% from the field. Despite these numbers, his role on Team USA is expected to be coming off the bench, primarily due to Embiid’s offensive edge.

However, if Team USA decides to employ a lineup with two big men, both Davis and Embiid could start, with Bam Adebayo providing additional support from the bench. This setup would bolster the team’s interior defense and rebounding capabilities while maintaining a formidable offensive presence.

The viral dunk serves as a reminder of the talent and competitive spirit within Team USA, as Davis and Embiid continue to push each other to greater heights. Whether starting or coming off the bench, Davis’s contribution will be crucial for Team USA as they aim for gold.

Anthony Davis Thinks Team USA Is Unbeatable

Anthony Davis is exuding confidence about Team USA’s prospects at the 2024 Summer Olympics, declaring the team “unbeatable” if it replicates its performance against Canada. Following an 86-72 exhibition victory in Las Vegas, Davis shared his thoughts with reporters, emphasizing the team’s defensive prowess despite a shaky offensive start.

“Unbeatable. Offensively we were, to keep it frank, we were pretty terrible. But it’s a good terrible in the sense of we were trying to make the right plays.”

“But if we’re worried about offense, I think we’re in a good spot. Where we hung our hat tonight was defensively.”

Team USA’s initial struggles were evident as they missed their first six shots. However, they soon found their rhythm, pulling away from a formidable Canadian team expected to compete for a medal in Paris. Davis contributed significantly, recording 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Anthony Edwards led with 13 points.

The United States, aiming for its fifth consecutive gold medal in men’s basketball, boasts one of the most star-studded rosters in Olympic history. Alongside Davis, legends like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant have come together, potentially marking a last hurrah for their generation.

Seven of the 12 players on the roster are over the age of 30, including Derrick White, who recently replaced Kawhi Leonard. With this blend of experience and talent, Team USA is poised to continue its dominance on the global stage.
