  • Adidas held an event in Atlanta to officially release Anthony Edwards’ logo and new shoe
  • A stunning mural of his was also unveiled at the event
  • It featured the Timberwolves star along with his late mother and grandmother

Anthony Edwards was celebrating Adidas officially revealing his new logo and signature shoe in an event in Atlanta when he was given quite a pleasant surprise. A beautiful mural featuring him, his mother, and grandmother was unveiled and Edwards was left stunned by it.

Edwards’ mother, Yvette, and grandmother, Shirley, both passed away when he was just 14 due to cancer. It was a touching tribute and would have meant a lot to him to have that in his hometown. It was also announced that August 5th, his birthday, will now be Anthony Edwards Day in Atlanta.

Edwards, who was born in Atlanta, has done a lot of work for the community and this was a wonderful way for them to honor him.

Anthony Edwards’ New Logo And Signature Shoe

With Edwards’ stock rising rapidly, it was only a matter of time before Adidas started to feature him. The 22-year-old now has his own signature shoe with Adidas, the AE1.

It looks pretty good, and we can expect to get a lot more of these in the years to come. Adidas also unveiled Edwards’ brand-new logo in a short clip on social media.

Edwards seems destined to be one of the very best players in the NBA, and this is just another big step in what Adidas would be hoping is a long and successful partnership. The Minnesota Timberwolves star had signed a shoe endorsement deal with them back in 2020, just two games into his rookie season.

Whoever made the decision to sign him up back then, should probably get a raise. It wouldn’t surprise me a whole lot if, in a few years, Edwards has the best-selling shoes in the league.

Expect Anthony Edwards To Take Another Leap In 2023-24

Edwards’ game has improved with each passing year and in his third season in the league in 2022-23, he put up career-highs across the board. The No. 1 pick from the 2020 NBA Draft averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.

He was named an All-Star for the first time and in the playoffs, Edwards averaged 31.6 points per game in the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, the eventual champions.

He followed all that up by being Team USA’s best player at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Edwards put up 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game, but the U.S. still failed to win a medal, as a lot of his teammates underperformed.

Edwards would be hoping that won’t be the story of the 2023-24 season for him with the Timberwolves. Minnesota has a lot of talent, but some of the pieces around him didn’t play up to expectations in 2022-23.

He believes things are going to be a lot better and Edwards wants to win 50 games next season. While I have little doubt that he’ll play even better than he has done in the recent past, I’m not so sure about a lot of his teammates.
