The Chicago Bulls were once the pinnacle of basketball success. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen dominated the 90s and stamped their place in history as one of the greatest duos in American sports. Sadly, the two are no longer close today thanks to the airing of ‘The Last Dance,’ a documentary that left Pippen feeling sour and underappreciated about his time with the Bulls. As a result, Pippen has started a sort of one-sided cold war with his ex-teammate as he tries to discredit his career.
In just the past few years, Pippen has made all sorts of outlandish statements about Jordan, and it has raised quite a few eyebrows across the association. Recently, former NBA All-Star Bill Walton laid into Pippen for his relentless campaign against MJ.
“I’m shocked and dismayed and those words are NOT strong enough to relate my feelings as the way that Scottie Pippen treats Michael Jordan,” said Walton. “That’s just not right.”
Scottie Pippen's beef with Michael Jordan is surprising to Bill Walton: "I’m shocked and dismayed and those words are NOT strong enough to relate my feelings as the way that Scottie Pippen treats Michael Jordan."

Things between MJ and Pippen were seemingly all good until ‘The Last Dance’ documentary aired in 2020 and revealed some behind-the-scenes moments of Chicago’s final run.
Pippen wasn’t left out of the series, but he was less than pleased with how the project made him look.
“Michael Jordan professes his love for Scottie Pippen, anoints him the best teammate he ever had, and acknowledges he couldn’t have reached pro basketball’s zenith without him. But Pippen has been notably silent since the documentary began its run last month, and those close to him say he’s wounded and disappointed by his portrayal,” reported Jackie MacMullan.
Relationship Between Pippen And Jordan Will Never Be The Same Again
Considering how successful the pair was during their time together, it’s easy to think that they would share a special and unbreakable bond. But they are proof that even the strongest relationships can fail, and there is no going back to how things used to be.
“Well, obviously I know Michael well, but I don’t know Scottie that well, I don’t,” said Jerry West. “But he’s always been very pleasant and very nice to me. And as I say, I admired him tremendously as a player. He got better every year. He wasn’t, somebody that just fell off a cliff. He was a really good player and whatever happens in relationships and when, particularly if you look at a team and you would think that those guys like that would have the most special relationship in the world. I just haven’t understood that.”
It’s been decades since MJ’s Bulls went on their amazing run, but no amount of time will wash away what that team was able to accomplish together. And whether or not Scottie ever speaks to MJ again, nobody can deny their place in the NBA history books.
Maybe one day, they will sit down and hash things out, but until then, don’t hold your breath on them finding any kind of reconciliation.
