Brandon Miller gave some unexpected answers when playing a game of start-bench-trade on The Knuckleheads Podcast. Asked to choose between Kobe Bryant, Paul George, and James Harden, Miller picked PG to start, Bryant to sit on the bench, and Harden to be traded.

“I’m trading James Harden for sure. Starting PG, then Kobe – off the bench…”

Miller was then given a different set of players to choose from – Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, and Bradley Beal. Miller once again surprised the hosts by choosing to start Bradley Beal, benching Reggie Miller, and trading Ray Allen.

“I’m going to start Brad (Beal), bench Reggie Miller, I’m trading Ray Allen.”

To close the segment, Miller was asked to name his five favorite players in the NBA from any era. Miller named Paul George, LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and his fellow 2023 draft class member Victor Wembanyama, before naming himself in his list.

“PG, Bron… New school though? Luka Magic, he gets buckets. I like what Wemby doing this year, throw Wemby in there. B Mill himself.”

 (38:23 onwards)

Brandon Miller Has Some Unique Opinions About The NBA

It is interesting that Miller did not mention the former owner of his franchise, Michael Jordan in his list, but it would make sense considering he didn’t get to witness Jordan’s prime. However, Miller did talk about his experience with Jordan, and how he gives MJ a hard time about air-balling a free throw.

Miller certainly doesn’t lack confidence in himself, putting himself among some of the best players in the NBA. And while some of his choices in start-bench-trade were questionable, it can be attributed to his age, and watching a different era of the NBA than some of the veterans in the league did.

This is far from the first time that Brandon Miller has shared some of his bizarre takes. He once claimed that Paul George was the greatest player of all time, over LeBron James and Michael Jordan. While George is a fantastic player, almost no one has ever argued that he is the best to ever play the game.

In the aftermath of the 2023 NBA Draft, where Miller was selected second overall by the Hornets, who were owned by Michael Jordan at the time, Miller strangely stated that Jordan chose to draft him over Scoot Henderson because he saw some of Miller’s viral trash talk.

While Miller certainly has some spicy takes, he has proven himself to be a good player for the Hornets. Last season, Miller averaged 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.6 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game. For his performances, he was named to the All-Rookie first team along with Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.

Miller will be looking to take a step up next season, as he gets ready for his sophomore season in the NBA. Perhaps he can emulate the rise of his GOAT, Paul George, who led his team to the playoffs in just his second season in the NBA.
