Brandon Miller Thinks Michael Jordan Picked Him As The No. 2 Overall Pick Because Of His Viral Trash-Talk
The Charlotte Hornets picked Brandon Miller with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He apparently impressed Michael Jordan during the pre-draft workout.
Speaking of which, Miller exposed Jordan about airballing a free throw. Miller leveraged that miss to trash talk Jordan. In a recent interview with 'Podcat P,' Miller revealed his trash-talk actually played a role in Jordan selecting him in the draft.
"He started it," Miller said. "I think it kind of showed him another side of me because I don't really... I mean, if you talk-trash, I'll probably look at you like you're crazy. I think me responding to him, I don't think he thought I was gonna say anything to him. Just because he is Michael Jordan. But, you know, I did see him airball those free throws, so that's one thing I have above him."
"I don't really know who that guy is, but off the court, after the workout, I'm like, oh, what's going on? MJ. Nice to meet you. Take a picture. I was a fan. While I'm in between the lines, I don't know who that is."

Trash-talking to Michael Jordan doesn't really end well for most players. Even Carmelo Anthony revealed how there was no benefit in doing so. But Miller didn't get intimidated by Jordan's aura.
Miller used Jordan's missed free throw to get inside his head, and ultimately, it convinced 'His Airness' to draft the talented prospect.
Brandon Miller Opened Up About Trash-Talking Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan is considered the GOAT by most fans. Evidently, claiming that he airballed a free throw led to Miller catching a lot of heat from fans.
However, he has stayed true to his story. Miller even gave a detailed explanation about how he trash-talked Jordan.
"Working out in front of Michael Jordan, a lot of people told me I'd be under pressure, but MJ was never the guy I grew up watching, I grew up watching Paul George. Michael Jordan was just a regular guy in the gym watching me work out.
"He definitely sounds like how he does on TV, he was trash-talking... He told me I was just a shooter. I know my talents and abilities, can't let Jordan get into your head. I was kinda talking trash back to me. I witnessed him airball a free throw too, I'll have that against him. It's just him being old. Lace 'em up."
Brandon Miller recently featured in five Summer League games. Despite struggling initially, he finished the campaign with 15.2 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 3.4 APG. The Hornets are now preparing Miller for training camp, as he is expected to have a satisfactory rookie season.
