Carmelo Anthony recently addressed his son Kiyan’s confident claim that he would outplay his father in a one-on-one basketball game at the age of 16.

“See the disrespect, see how he disrespect. Are you shit*** me? Are you shit*** me? I’m fuc*** with the fact that he believes that and he exudes that confidence. calm like… usually at this age, you ask a question… It’s like immediate… This means you’ve been thinking out it.”

During an episode of Carmelo’s show, ‘7PM In Brooklyn,’ he reacted with a mix of amusement and pride. Carmelo chuckled at the perceived disrespect from his son and expressed admiration for Kiyan’s confidence, appreciating that the statement indicated thoughtful contemplation.

Carmelo playfully dismissed the idea of Kiyan beating him in a one-on-one, jokingly saying:

“So no, get the f*** out of here, Ky.”

Adding humor to the situation, Carmelo Anthony acknowledged the evolving generational talent, acknowledging that Kiyan, at 16, possesses skills that surpass his own abilities at the same age.

“And also, he got some sh** at 16, that I wouldn’t fathom of doing at 16.”

The good-natured teasing between the father and son commenced when Kiyan Anthony uploaded a TikTok video, addressing a hypothetical matchup when he was 16 years old. With confidence, Kiyan asserted his dominance, expressing that he would outperform his father, indicating Carmelo Anthony, who, according to Kiyan, only became skilled at 17.

This exchange offers a lighthearted glimpse into the playful relationship between Carmelo and Kiyan Anthony, showcasing a dynamic of familial pride, good-natured humor, and an acknowledgment of the generational evolution of talent within the Anthony family.

How Good Was Carmelo Anthony At 16?

Unfortunately, specific statistical data for Carmelo Anthony’s performance at the age of 16 is not readily available. High school basketball statistics are often not as extensively documented as college or professional stats. However, during his time at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, Carmelo showcased exceptional skills that hinted at his future success in the sport.

At 16, Carmelo was likely refining his skills on the court, working on his scoring repertoire, understanding the nuances of the game, and gaining valuable experience in high-level competitions. His performances in high school competitions would have played a pivotal role in solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the basketball world.

Carmelo’s impact extended beyond high school, as he went on to have a remarkable freshman year at Syracuse University, leading his team to an NCAA championship in 2003. His impressive college career set the stage for him to declare for the NBA draft, where he was selected as the third overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in 2003.

Reflecting on Carmelo Anthony’s skills at 16, it becomes evident that even during his formative years, he displayed the promise and potential that would eventually make him a ten-time NBA All-Star. His journey from a standout high school player to an NBA icon underscores the early signs of greatness that defined Carmelo’s basketball legacy.
