Ja Morant is going to have a troubled offseason as he was seen waving a gun on social media once again, prompting everyone in the league to take notice.

Morant is likely going to end up being suspended and even issued an apology for his actions yesterday. Charles Barkley was disheartened to see this and warned Morant about putting his financial future in jeopardy.

“When you’re making $100 million to play sports, your life changes. There are certain rules and regulations you have to live by. You can’t do stupid stuff, that’s the trade-off. If you wanna do all that stuff and give that money back, more power to you. You can make that stance. But you can’t make money in the NBA doing this stuff. I hope he grows up and realizes this. You’re not a criminal, you’re not a crook. You’re a guy making $200 million to dribble a stupid basketball. You hit the lottery, we all hit the lottery. There are people that work 9 to 5 for $25,000 a year, they’d kill to be in our situation. Kenny’s right, after a point it’s not your friends… You gotta look in the mirror and be like, ‘Maybe I’m the problem’… To be a fool already and be a bigger fool a couple of months later.”

Everyone can see that Morant is trying to be someone who he isn’t with his actions off the court. He has openly said that money won’t change him and it seems he’s taken it very literally. After a point, he’ll have to have a conversation with himself about that stance because portraying himself like this can ultimately ruin his NBA career.

Will Morant Avoid A League-Enforced Suspension?

Ja Morant was suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies almost immediately after his gun video went viral. The team is prepared for the league to come down extremely hard on Morant with some people even discussing a half-season suspension in the mix for the point guard.

Adam Silver was clearly disappointed in Morant when he addressed the situation before the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery. We will have to wait and see how the league deals with and whether Morant can actually start adapting to his life as a privileged multi-millionaire basketball player because ultimately, that is who he is and that is who he should want to remain.
