Danny Green On LeBron James And Ben Simmons: “It’s Unfair To Compare Anybody To LeBron Or Compare Anybody To Michael Jordan, Especially At A Young Age.”

2 Min Read

Love him or hate him, 24-year-old Ben Simmons is one of the best young players in the game today. As a premier playmaker and talented finisher, the youngster is drawing comparisons to many other players, including Lakers superstar LeBron James.

While Ben’s talent is undeniable, many pause at the idea about putting him in the same breath as the “King.” According to Sixers sharpshooter Danny Green, it’s a comparison that isn’t fair to Simmons or James.

“I see why there’s a comparison,” said Green, via Ky Carlin of USA TODAY SPORTS. “Obviously, LeBron is one of the greatest to ever do it and Ben has the potential given the size, ability, and speed, but it’s unfair. It’s unfair to compare anybody to LeBron or compare anybody to Michael Jordan, especially at a young age.

Ben is still learning the game and he’s still very good, but he still has a long way to go if he wants to be in that realm. This is an unfair comparison for anybody let alone Ben, but he has the tools and the potential to be that.”

In a lot of ways, Simmons is very similar to Bron. Their size, frame, and playstyle are very comparable.

When it comes to dominance and achievements, however, there is a pretty steep gap. James is a 16x All-Star, 4x Champion, and 4x MVP. He’s also considered one of the top three players in basketball history.

Before Simmons can be matched up with a guy like that, he’s going to have to prove he can win where it matters most.

Sixers fans are hoping this year is the year.
