DeMar DeRozan And Zach LaVine Are The First Chicago Bulls Duo Since Michael Jordan And Scottie Pippen To Have 30+ Points And 9+ Assists Each In The Same Game

3 Min Read

DeMar DeRozan has quickly proven to be one of, if not the best free-agent signing this offseason. DeRozan joined the Bulls and formed a partnership with Zach LaVine that is quickly becoming one of the NBA’s best duos in the league today. And they recently joined an iconic Bulls duo while making history for the franchise.

During the Bulls’ outing against the Atlanta Hawks, DeMar DeRozan put up 35 points and 10 assists, whereas LaVine put up 30 points and 9 assists, as they led their team to the win. And in doing so, LaVine and DeRozan became the first Bulls’ duo since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to put up 30+ points and 9+ each assist in a single game.

DeRozan and LaVine have a lot of work to come close to Pippen and Jordan as a duo. LaVine learned this lesson recently, as he reacted to StatMuse pointing out he was 472 games behind Michael Jordan for the most 30+ point games in Chicago Bulls’ history.

But the duo has been nothing short of sensational this season. In fact, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins thinks that LaVine and DeRozan make up the best duo in the NBA today. But right now, their focus will be on winning more so that the Bulls can see some legitimate postseason success for the first time since 2017.

If the conversation is about which duo gets along better as things stand, LaVine and DeRozan will get the better of Jordan and Pippen. Pippen came out with a lot of unflattering comments about Michael Jordan recently, including calling him patronizing for saying that he was his best teammate ever.

LaVine and DeRozan have become the focal point of this Bulls’ resurgence. And going forward, both players will be relied upon heavily to help the team, especially if they make it to the playoffs. But if they keep playing the way they have, the Bulls are in for a fun season.
