Jokic’s incident with Ishbia received mixed reactions from fans. Some thought it showed hustle from the Suns’ owner, while others thought he simply flopped.

Either way, that one point proved to be crucial as the Suns held a three-point lead in the final minute of the game and ultimately won the game by 129-124.

Nikola Jokic On His Incident With Mat Ishbia

Nikola Jokic was simply phenomenal in Game 4 vs. the Phoenix Suns. He recorded 53 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists, and 1 block while playing 39 minutes.

Focusing on Jokic’s altercation with Ishbia. The Denver Nuggets superstar spoke about it in the postgame interview.

“He told me I was elbowing the fan, but the fan put their hand on me first. I thought the league is supposed to protect us, or whatever. Maybe I am wrong, so we’ll see… I know who he is, but he’s a fan. Sitting courtside, he’s a fan. Doesn’t matter who he is, he can’t influence the game by holding the ball… His hands are on me, they’re not gonna protect me? They’re gonna protect the fan? Not me as a person, but I am talking about as a player. They don’t care, but they should protect the players… He’s influencing the game. I think he’s supposed to get kicked out if he’s influencing the game.”

Jokic claimed that the NBA should be protecting its players instead of fans. Sure, Ishbia is the owner of the Suns, but during a game, even the owners are treated as fans.

The league shouldn’t allow Ishbia’s status as the owner to impact the outcome of his incident with Nikola Jokic.
