The Los Angeles Lakers ended up winning Game 4 against the Golden State Warriors, with the final score being 101-104. Anthony Davis and LeBron James were both huge in the win, but the big hero of the game was Lonnie Walker IV, who came up big in the 4th quarter, finishing with 15 points on the night.
Warriors forward Draymond Green has recently opened up on Lonnie Walker’s performance against his team, noting that the team managed to wear down stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James, noting that usually that’s a win for the Warriors. He also claimed that if Lonnie Walker beats you, you “gotta live with it”.
“I thought we did a great job of wearing AD and LeBron down. They played a ton of minutes, very high usage. In turn, they went to Lonnie Walker in the fourth quarter. Most cases, that’s a win. It’s still a win… If you can stop LeBron from getting what shots he wants, stop AD from getting what shots he wants. Lonnie Walker beats you, you kinda gotta live with it.”

There’s no doubt that this performance from Lonnie Walker showed that he is a role player that is unafraid of the big moments. He had an emotional reaction to his performance, and anyone would feel an outburst of feelings if they managed to do what he did. We will see if he can replicate a similar performance in Game 5, though, as performing on the road in a hostile environment is notoriously more difficult.
LeBron James And Anthony Davis Both Appreciated Lonnie Walker IV After His Big Performance
After the game ended, superstars Anthony Davis and LeBron James both shared their appreciation for what Lonnie Walker did. Both stars clearly believe the Lakers wouldn’t have won without Walker’s presence.
LeBron James: “It’s not even about tonight, I’ve been telling Lonnie, ‘Stay ready, we’re gonna need you at some point.’ For him to be as young as he is and for him to have that professionalism, come out, and stay ready when his number is called. We don’t win this game without Lonnie Walker tonight, that’s for sure.”
Anthony Davis: “Last game he said he prayed for these moments when he was a kid. … Lonnie won this game tonight.”
There is no doubt that Lonnie Walker came up huge when his team needed him the most. He punished the Warriors for loading up on the Lakers’ stars, and we’ll see if other role players can do the same going forward.
