Stephen A. Smith shared his views on marriage and opened up about his own personal life at 55.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, the NBA analyst admitted that he would want to be a married man.

“Contrary to what you may believe, although I’m 55 and a father of two, I have never been married,” Smith said. “I am not against marriage at all. In fact, I hope to be married someday. I hope to walk down that aisle.”

He further added that he would love the feeling of waiting for his bride to come down the aisle while he would wait for her.

“I hope to walk down that aisle. I hope to be standing there on the altar and waiting for my beautiful bride to come sauntering down the aisle. I want to see that. I really, really do. Now, personally, I will prioritize the honeymoon more so than the wedding. That’s just me.”

“I just tell you, right now, just like me, I would prioritize the honeymoon more than the actual cost of the wedding, you understand? And I think about our life, and I certainly wouldn’t want to deplete funds, and I don’t think you should all, either. But nevertheless, the wedding, as is the case for the ring, is for her.”

With the NBA season over, and the wait continues for the next, amid what has been a rather intriguing offseason, Smith has diverted to various topics outside of the sport, and has been unabashed on his take on life matters — the marriage being the latest.

Stephen A. Smith Was Engaged Once, But Never Married

Stephen A. Smith has never been married, and he has his reasons. It’s not public knowledge, and he intends to keep it that way.

Per a GQ featurette in 2019, he was engaged once, and he told the author that he wasn’t keen on talking about it. “It didn’t work out. Matter of fact, I just told my sister that the other day: none of your business.”

It’s a perfectly reasonable take from Smith as he falls under the category of some imminent personalities who prefer to keep their lives out of the world’s eyes.

That Smith is talking about everyday matters comes as a refreshing change, especially with the NBA world simmering down in terms of activity. Rest assured, there comes a day when he’s tying the knot, Smith will let the world know.
