Aaron Gordon appears locked in for the NBA Finals, and he outlined his objective clearly after the Denver Nuggets notched up a 104-93 win in Game 1 against the Miami Heat on Thursday.
“I’m not here for the credit. I’m here for the wins,” Gordon said in the aftermath of the win. “I don’t care if I scored 50 or zero. As long as I’m impacting the game and we win it.”

Gordon ended his evening with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist, but it was his defense against Jimmy Butler that was one of the key highlights. His efforts meant that the Heat forward was contained to scoring just 13 points.
The Nuggets put up an all-round show, but they will be wary of the Heat’s comeback in Game 2. And Gordon will have his task cut out in the next encounter.
The Denver Nuggets Cannot Afford To Get Complacent
The Nuggets have been on a roll and set the tone with a solid win in Game 1, but they cannot afford to take Miami lightly. The Heat went on from the eighth seed to the Finalists and that shows they have the dog in them to not give up.
Mike Malone stressed as much ahead of Game 1. “As I told our team, forget the #8 seed stuff. They beat Milwaukee 4-1 and they had the most wins in the NBA this year.”
“They beat Boston 4-3 and they were up 3-0, the team with the second most wins this year. When you get to the NBA Finals, it’s not about seeding anymore. And for those that are thinking this is going to be an easy series, I don’t even know what to say to you, people. This is going to be the biggest challenge of our lives. It’s the NBA Finals.”
Now, the Nuggets are three wins away from being crowned champions and only time will tell if they can get there before a Game 7.
