Knicks Reportedly Closing In On Deal To Hire Tom Thibodeau

2 Min Read

The New York Knicks have been the epitome of failure for years now and, up until now, there has been no end in sight. Embarrassing moments and bad decisions became normal for the front-office, and the team was quickly branded as the laughing stock of the NBA.

But with R.J. Barrett bringing life back to the team, they knew it was time to chart a new direction — one that didn’t include their last head coach, David Fizdale.

Who they bring in next will likely have a huge impact on their success moving forward so it’s no surprise they wanted a big name.

And, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they may have already found him. According to Woj, the Knicks have agreed to a five-year deal with coaching legend Tom Thibodeau.

Thibs seems like an ideal fit for a number of factors. For one, he’s a well-known coaching legend who is respected by players around the association. He’s also a defensive specialist who can help set the tone on that end of the floor for a franchise who has routinely struggled in that area.

Needless to say, Thibs is a decent option for what the Knicks are trying to do and who they are trying to be. Will it help them get free agents in the summer? That much remains to be seen, but the hire is certainly a good place to start.
