In a recent interview with PlayStation, LeBron revealed how much this means to him and much more details about his gaming habits:
“What it means to be a gamer?”
“You know, when someone say, let’s get a game in, let’s get on the sticks, you always ready. Always.”
“What role has gaming played in your life?”
“PlayStation and gaming has been a huge part of my childhood and a huge part of my life now. It was a way to bring us together, have fun and enjoy, compete versus one another and win. You know, we’re a super ultra-competitive group. So we went at it a lot.”
“Who did you compete against the most?”
The one I love competing against, Frankie, my brother. I lived with them and his family for a few years. So literally, we were in competition every single day when it came to the gaming world.
“What is your favorite gaming genre?”
“Definitely sports, between basketball, football, soccer, boxing, racing, tennis, Golf.”
“What is your favorite game?”
“The game I played the most is Madden. I’ve logged that game more than any game in my life. Nothing even compares to come close.”
“What is your favorite PlayStation exclusive franchise?”
“I would definitely say Spider-Man. Being a fan of the Marvel world and things of that nature, the level that you can play that game at, very fun to play.”
“What is your favorite time to play?”
“My favorite time to play video games is like literally super early in the morning. I literally wake up before anybody in the household. If I happen to have like a day off and I’m not training or whatever the case may be, I’ll just go downstairs before everybody wakes up, play video games at like five, six o’clock in the morning. It’s my coffee, I will say.”
“What makes gaming so special?”
“It’s a sense of joy. Like you really enjoy and have fun. I’ve done it since I was a kid and now seeing my kids do it, it’s something that brings joy. That’s all you’re gonna ask in life.”
“What does gaming bring out to you?”
“Competitive flow, competitive juices, being able to compete versus someone that’s in your household, a friend, a family member, or people all over the world when you’re able to play online.
“Describe your feelings from this PlayStation Collab.”
“I mean, it’s just super surreal. I mean, I remember I was a kid unboxing a PlayStation for the first time and grabbing that controller to sit here today with my own special edition controller with PlayStation. I’d have lost for words, honestly.
“What was the inspiration behind the design?”
“What the inspiration behind the design is, if anybody know me, I do a lot for IPS, my I Promise school, my kids back in my community. So, you know, a lot of different colors is kind of our colors. And also some mantras of mine, you know, nothing is given, everything is earned. The chosen ones and building uplift power. We have iPromise literally on the controller. And then my signature King Crown.”
“Favorite gaming snack?”
“Grapes.”
“Headphones or surround sound?”
“I’m doing surround sound over headphones.”
“Couch or gaming Chair?”
“Couch over gaming chair.
“Gaming Annoycanes?”
“People walking past the screen and not saying that they’re gonna have a walkthrough.”
“Gaming alone or with friends?”
“I would say gaming with friends.”
“Best gaming teammates?”
“Between Anthony Davis, Dennis Schroder, and JR Smith.”
“Kratos starting five?”
“Me, me, me, and then Kratos and Kratos.”
“Vacation of stay-cation?”
“Vacation.”
“Favorite karaoke song?”
“If I ever fall in love, by Shai.”
“Hard shell or soft shell tacos?”
“Soft tacos.”
“Do I think Bronny or Bryce can beat me in Madden with this controller?”
“Absolutely not, there’s no way.”
