When a player achieves something incredible with an NBA team, they get their jerseys retired, and their names make it into the Ring of Honor. They are awarded many accolades and honored in several ways. But the true superstars, the ones that change the franchises they play for and do things no one else has ever done, get things like statues of themselves outside the stadium.

There aren’t many past legends that can claim this honor. The topic has come into discussion once again after the Dallas Mavericks unveiled a statue of Dirk Nowitzki outside the American Airlines Center recently. And fans across the league loved it, with the statue memorializing Nowitzki’s patented one-legged fadeaway that took him into the Top 10 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

He isn’t the only player with a statue, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaquille O’Neal all have statues as well. And as fans will often do in these situations, they ended up comparing Nowitzki’s statue along with all the other ones of these great players, leading to some interesting comments.

NBA Fans Were Asked Which Legend Has The Best Statue Out Of 6 Choices, And The Answers Were Incredibly Interesting

A lot of these statues capture the legends doing what they did best. Michael Jordan is seen leaping into the air to dunk, Shaquille O’Neal is also dunking viciously, while Larry Bird is captured pulling up for a jumper. And when given a choice between 6 statues to determine which one is the best, fans had a lot to say.

“Ngl that new Dirk statue kinda fire.”

“Jordan. Too iconic.”

“The better question is which one is the weakest….they’re all petty dope.”

“Michael Jordan is legendary.”

“Easy, who has the MVP TROPHY named after them now.”

“Listen, as a Bulls fan that Jordan statue is iconic yes but that Shaq and Dirk got them details in it!”

“Definitely not Bird.”

“Jordan , Magic Dirk , Shaq , Kareem. And Bird… The Bird statue needs a redux.”

“Shaq or Jordan in my opinion.”

“Its between MJ and Shaq.”

“Dirk’s statue goes hard bro.”

It seems that most people consider Michael Jordan’s Jumpman statue the most iconic out of the lot. Shaquille O’Neal has garnered quite a few votes as well. And Dirk Nowitzki’s statue has people’s approval too. Whatever the outcome of this poll, nothing changes about the legacy all these legends have left behind them.
