Donovan Mitchell is one of the best offensive players in the league, being an elite scoring shooting guard who has proven that he can be the No. 1 offensive option for a playoff-level team. He averaged 25.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 5.3 APG for the Utah Jazz during the regular season.
Despite his stature as a player, it seems as though the Utah Jazz are willing to listen to trade offers for Donovan Mitchell. He has been linked to a number of teams, with a lot of recent reports connecting Donovan Mitchell to the New York Knicks.
Sports anchor Sam Farnsworth has recently revealed that Donovan Mitchell’s jerseys are currently housed in the “former players” section of the Jazz merchandise store. This has led to a lot of speculation by fans about a potential Donovan Mitchell trade. Some people noted that the Utah Jazz would be getting new uniforms for the 2022-23 season and suggested that Donovan Mitchell’s old jersey could be in that section for that reason. However, Farnsworth also posted a photo of Jordan Clarkson’s old jersey being 60$ and in the “current players” section, disproving that hypothesis.

It remains to be seen if Donovan Mitchell will, in fact, get traded. He is an extremely talented player, and there have also been some suggestions that the Utah Jazz would be willing to try and retool around him while staying as a competitive team.
If Donovan Mitchell does end up on another franchise, he could potentially be a difference-maker for that team offensively. There are few players that are as effective as Mitchell when it comes to their production on volume. While his defense could be a concern, perhaps a defensive-oriented squad around Mitchell could help mitigate some of those concerns. Hopefully, we see Donovan Mitchell end up on a competitive team next year, whether it be on the Jazz or otherwise.
