Bam Adebayo Slams The All-Star Voting System: “There Are Guys That Shouldn’t Even Be On That List”

The Miami Heat and their players have felt for the longest time that they don’t get the respect they deserve from both fans and the media. The Heat made it to the NBA Finals in 2020 and almost made it back there last year, but there is never a lot of hype surrounding them.

A slow start to this season had many calling for them to blow up their roster, but in typical Heat fashion, they have gotten back on track. They are now the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 27-22 record after winning 7 of their last 10 games. Still, there wasn’t a whole lot of love for their players when the latest results of the fan vote came out, as Jimmy Butler was the only one to make it to the top 10 in the frontcourt or backcourt. Bam Adebayo, who is having the best season of his NBA career, was not happy with these results, as he slammed the voting system.

via Miami Herald:

“I’ll leave fan voting to fan voting,” Adebayo said to the Miami Herald. “There are guys that shouldn’t even be on that list. But it’s fan voting. That’s what it is and you got to live with that. I mean, right now I’m in a position where it’s based off the coaches in the East. Now that, I’m going to be [upset] about if they tell me somebody else has played better than me this year considering I’m leading the NBA in paint points and I’m one of the reasons why we’re winning.”

“So for me, it’s just that fan voting is fan voting. I’ll let that be. But when it comes to coaches voting, that’s when I feel like I deserve to be in it.”

You do wonder who are these players he thinks shouldn’t be on there. Adebayo is averaging 21.6 PPG and 10.2 RPG while shooting 54.0% from the field, so it is understandable that he feels he is an All-Star. He is now banking on the coaches to get him in, and we’ll see if they feel he is worthy of making it in.

The Heat Are Looking To Make Some Moves

While the Heat have seen much better results on the court in recent times, they know that they need to make some upgrades to their roster. They remain one of the teams interested in D’Angelo Russell, as they probably feel they need someone better than Kyle Lowry, who hasn’t had the best of time this season.

They have also been linked to a host of other names, from Serge Ibaka to John Collins. The trade deadline isn’t too far away, and it seems like the Heat are one of the teams to keep an eye on for the next 2 weeks.
