Bleacher Report

Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons has been the subject of scrutiny for weeks now. Thanks to his offensive shortcomings, and lack of confidence (among other things), the Sixers fell short of their playoff goals.

Of course, it didn’t stop there. During the ESPYs, Simmons received even more flack for his shooting woes, this time from Marvel Studios star Anthony Mackie.

There’s no hiding how much Mackie roasted Simmons there. Seriously, it was a pretty deep burn, and it stirred up a lot of fans on Twitter.

Simmons’ shooting struggles have been the subject of conversation for years now, and it hasn’t seemed to have gotten any better. Despite many offseasons and a whole ton of criticism, things have only seemed to have gotten worse for Ben in that regard.

After another early playoff exit, the hope is that the young star will finally make some strides in his shooting ability, which will allow the Sixers to finally move forward and cement their status as contenders in the East.

Still, it won’t be an easy summer for him by any means, and it will be interesting to see how he deals with all the noise surrounding his game. At this point, only time will tell.
