Bill Simmons Says Giannis Antetokounmpo Should Join Luka Doncic: ‘They Would Win 4 Or 5 Championships.’

3 Min Read

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been linked with a lot of rumors in the NBA ever since the Milwaukee Bucks were dismantled and eliminated by the Miami Heat in the second round of the 2020 NBA playoffs in the Orlando bubble. Giannis committed to stay one more season with the Bucks and see if they can win with the right pieces, but that hasn’t stopped rumors about Giannis, his impending free agency and even the possibility of him getting trade at some point during the upcoming season.

Curiously, the Miami Heat have been linked with the Greek Freak for quite some time now, as well as the Golden State Warriors and even the Toronto Raptors. Nevertheless, these aren’t the only options for the back-to-back NBA MVP. There could be a dark horse in the West to acquire Giannis’ services next year, but things won’t be easy for them. Bill Simmons, though, has claimed that Giannis should join them to win.

The NBA analyst is convinced that Giannis’ next team in the league should be the Dallas Mavericks of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Simmons recently claimed that that’s the move to make for the 25-year-old, calling it a ‘no brainer’ on ESPN’s Jalen & Jacoby (2:50 minute mark).

“If I were him, I’d go (team up with) Luka Doncic. I think Luka is gonna be the next guy. To me it’s a no brainer, I am getting to Dallas. I am hitching my kite to Luka’s right leg.

“I think Giannis is looking at Luka like, ‘if it’s me and him, we’re winning titles. We’re not winning the title, we’re winning four to five titles. I think Luka has the chance to be one of the best six or seven players ever. He’s already the best 21-year old ever. … So if I’m Giannis, I’m going there and waiting.”

This could be a great move for both the Mavs and Doncic, but some people believe the Heat would be his first option if he was to leave the Bucks. We don’t even know when the next season is starting and yet we’re talking about the potential moves that could take place. Giannis is already the most sought-after player in the league and that only will get bigger when the season starts.

We still have to wait and see what is going to happen but the general consensus is that the Bucks don’t have big chances to keep their star.
