The Golden State Warriors pulled off a big win in the 2022 NBA Finals, beating the Boston Celtics in six games, returning to the glory after four years and two terrible seasons without their superstars on the court. After Klay Thompson returned to action, the Dubs were ready to win it all, and that’s exactly what they did.

It wasn’t an easy journey, as the Memphis Grizzlies proved to be a hard rival, although they were eliminated in six games. The Celtics started off the series with a 2-1 advantage, but that situation never affected the Warriors, who came back and won the series 4-2.

Those bad moments helped the Warriors, who came up stronger and dominated the Celtics for three straight games to win their 4th championship in eight years.

Bob Myers On The Warriors’ Big 3’s Confidence After Going 2-1 Down In 2022 Finals

Warriors general manager Bob Myers recently joined The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami on his The TK Show (via Redditor “kzomkw”) to talk about the 2022-23 NBA season. He explained that even after going down 2-1 against the Celtics, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were unbothered, and even claimed they could win the next three games to secure the championship.

“As I look back on winning the championship this last year, I think a good chunk of the reason we won [was our experience]. Knowing how to win and having guys that knew how to win was a huge reason. Whether that’s Steve [Kerr], knowing how to coach, or our players, who had won before. We leaned into that more than we ever did in previous years.

“Even after we lost Game 3 when we were down 2-1, one of [Draymond, Steph, and Klay] said—and respectfully, this wasn’t done out of arrogance or anything—one of them said, ‘I think we can win the next 3 games.’ A lot of players say things—some of it’s bravado, some of it’s talking themselves into it—when those three guys—and even Andre—say things like that, you have to believe them. Because they’ve earned the right to say things like that. And again, it wasn’t like, it’s going to be easy, we don’t respect the Celtics, but more than one guy said ‘I think we can win the next 3 games’. It was interesting to hear them say that and to actually have conviction behind it. For me and my job, if they think that, they’ve been here before and they know what it takes and they think they can do it, it’s encouraging.”

After that statement, the Warriors returned in the best shape and beat the Boston Celtics, who couldn’t find an answer for their rivals, even losing the NBA championship at home after Stephen Curry and co. dominated them to close out the series. Not even the lack of height could stop them; they made the adjustments and stuck to the game plan, getting another championship and proving that they are still the best team in the NBA.
