Colin Cowherd Says LeBron James Has No Competition For The MVP: “It’s Not Even Close”

3 Min Read

A lot has been said about who deserves the MVP award this season, Giannis Antetokounmpo or LeBron James. The Greek Freak was seen as the biggest favorite to take the award home this season but after the hiatus, LeBron’s name gathered more attention and plenty of people have picked him as the rightful winner of the award.

The league announced the prizes will be given based on the performances from October through March, which still gives the biggest chances to Giannis to win his back-to-back MVP. Nevertheless, there are people still calling for LeBron James as the most valuable player of this season. Colin Cowherd, for instance, believes nobody is close to the King and he doesn’t even understand why people argue about the coveted prize.

“New position, new coach, new staff, new system, new star, new roster, number one in the west. I don’t even think it’s close. I honestly don’t even understand the argument,” he said on The Herd about Bron’s MVP case.

Before the league suspended the season, James beat the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Clippers in consecutive games, something that people interpreted as the best way to show how good LeBron has been this season. After that, more and more players and analysts started making the case for LeBron but that’s just not right.

Giannis was having a terrific season with the Bucks, dominating the East, boasting the best record in the league. The Greek player improved his numbers from last season (29.6 points and 13.7 rebounds per game while shooting 54.7 percent from the field) and all of that playing only 30 minutes per game. Imagine how dominant you have to be.

Sure, you can say LeBron is 35, playing in his 17th season and is still dominant, but there is no doubt that Giannis deserves the MVP. He doesn’t seem to care a lot about it, though, as he’s focused on bringing the big trophy home. There is nothing else in his mind.
