Kevin Durant's superstar status is not going to be questioned by anybody: we all know what he can do on the court. Kevin Durant has always been one of the top 3 players in the league, and many believe that a fully healthy Kevin Durant could be the best player in the league.
While that title has often gone to LeBron James, there are definitely NBA players who think that Durant may be the best player in the world currently. Damian Lillard is one of them. On The Dan Patrick Show, Damian Lillard suggested that even when both Kevin Durant and LeBron James are healthy, Kevin Durant may still be the best player in the league. (12:33)
When healthy I think, um, him and LeBron are like they’re right there. I think KD, KD healthy, could very well be the best player in the NBA. I mean, nobody can guard him. If he’s healthy, he’s shooting threes off the dribble, he’s pulling up off the dribble, he’s posting up. He can get to the rim, you can’t block his shot, he can hit, like the way he handles the ball, the way he moves at that size, who are you going to put on him? I mean when healthy I think like at this moment he could very well be the best player in the league.
The statistics that Kevin Durant is averaging upon his return from an Achilles injury certainly lend credence to his case to be the best player in the league. Kevin Durant has shown his all-around game, as he is averaging 28.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 5.2 APG. The Slim Reaper is back, and he is pushing the envelope on who the best player in the world really is. As Damian Lillard pointed out, Kevin Durant is the most unstoppable scorer in the league. That alone is enough for some to think he's the best player in the game.
