The Portland Trail Blazers welcomed the Los Angeles Lakers recently, and the game was full of ups and downs. Up until halftime, the Trail Blazers held a comfortable 25-point, and the result was almost decided.

However, LeBron James and Thomas Bryant led the Lakers to a phenomenal comeback in the second half. Thus, completing a superb comeback. As for the Trail Blazers, they have now lost eight out of their last 10 games and have an underwhelming 21-25 record. Amidst the struggles, Damian Lillard is the only positive for the organization.

Unfortunately, even Lillard had an unimpressive shooting night against the Lakers. He may have scored 24 points, but he shot 5-17 from the field and a pedestrian 3-13 from deep. Keeping the current struggles of the team in mind and the NBA Trade Deadline approaching fast, many believe the Trail Blazers need to make a few trades.

Damian Lillard Clears The Air About The Trail Blazers’ Trade Plans

Considering the fact that Lillard is the franchise superstar of the Trail Blazers, his opinion matters to the organization. After the crushing defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers, Lillard was asked about his thoughts on the team’s upcoming trade plans. Well, Dame did provide an answer, but he made it clear he just wants to focus on winning.

(Starts at 5:44)

“I want us to be in the best position to win. My job is to play point guard, be prepared and then go out there and do what I do and everybody has a job. And right now we’re not winning, right now we haven’t not being consistent but it’s not my job to say who goes where or what needs to happen as far as the roster, that’s not my job. What I will say, is right now we’re just not getting it done, I do want to win, there’s no secret that I want to win and I think we got to do whatever we have to do to be in a position to win. That’s the point of showing up, to give ourselves the best chance to win and I’m all for whatever that means.”

He added, “I’m confused why you all are asking me these questions right now, honestly. I respect it, but the bottom line is, we at the mid-way point of the season and we’re struggling right now, we’re not playing really well, we’ve been in a lot of these games, none of these games are just like we getting blown away. So i think as far as basketball goes there are things we can do to be better and we win some of these games.

The struggles that we’ve had are obvious but I don’t think it’s fair for you all to be asking these questions right now. I think that’s kind of a weak move. Our team is struggling and I’ve been transparent about our struggles and stuff that we can do better. But you all are putting me in a position to answer questions and I don’t think that’s cool. I think that’s a lack of respect putting me in that position.”

This is a tough time for Lillard and the Trail Blazers. So it’s unsurprising that he lashed out at the reporters for putting him on the spot and forcing him to answer these questions. At the end of the day, with each passing season, it’s becoming abundantly clear that Damian Lillard may never win an NBA Championship with the Portland Trail Blazers.

There are many rumors surrounding his future with the team, and it will not be a surprise if the two sides part ways sooner rather than later.
