Drake has made a bit of a reputation as a gambler online. The Canadian rapper often shares screenshots of bets he makes through his partner platform, Stake. But he believes there is one other GOAT when it comes to gambling – Michael Jordan. Drake told the story of playing and betting on games of ping pong with Jordan at the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend, and how Jordan just wouldn’t leave until he got a win.

“Real life gambling GOAT? To me, controversial take but it’s probably Michael Jordan. He’ll gamble on anything. I remember it was All-Star weekend in Toronto, and he had an event to be at. I beat him at ping pong a couple of times.”

“He just wouldn’t leave the ping pong table. He just kept betting me bands – 10, 20 – he kept betting because he just couldn’t stomach a loss. He’s definitely not a quitter, I respect him deeply for his gambling nature.”

While it’s good to hear about Drake’s respect for Michael Jordan as a gambler, we advise fans to not follow in His Airness’ footsteps when it comes to placing bets. Jordan is a billionaire who has some cash to burn and can afford to keep the bets going when things aren’t going his way. But the average person should avoid running a heavy debt just to get a win.

Jordan’s affinity for gambling is pretty well-known. We recently heard about a story of Jordan and Charles Barkley gambling with big money at a casino in Las Vegas during their playing days.

As I mentioned before, Jordan is an incredibly wealthy man, who can afford to gamble as much as he does. That is not pardoning MJ for what is ultimately a bad and destructive habit. It just means that he has a little more leeway to get away with it because of the incredible wealth he has accrued in his lifetime.

Jordan is a high-roller in all walks of life. He recently purchased a private jet for $70 million, and a $2.2 million one-of-one sports car. The man loves living the high life, and given where he came from and what he accomplished, he has every right to enjoy the fruits of his labor in his retirement.

Jordan earned about $90 million across his NBA career. Adjusting for inflation, that translates to about $161 million in today’s economy. But eclipsing that is the money he has earned throughout his career through endorsements, as those contracts essentially made him a billionaire.

Jordan has earned over $2 billion from various endorsement deals, namely Nike, who licenses his name and likeness for the Jordan brand merchandise they sell. Despite not playing basketball for over 20 years, Michaels is one of, if not the highest-paid athlete in the history of the sport.
