Over the past few years, the Golden State Warriors have been among the worst teams in the West, reduced to preparing for the lottery instead of competing for a title.
But not long ago, Dub Nation represented the best the NBA had to offer, and their five-year run from 2015-2019 might be one of the most impressive in basketball history.
And now, the Warriors are doing it again.
At 12-2, they have the best record in the NBA, and that’s without two major pieces of their roster.
In promotion of his new podcast, ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ the Warriors veteran posted a clip where he gave a warning to the NBA and all the doubters:
“During those times, a lot of f****** people wrote us off. The dynasty’s over. Draymond’s washed, he can’t do this, he can’t do that. Steph Curry has no help, he can’t carry a team. You go down the list. You have to know the disrespect is unbelievable, by the way. Klay (Thompson) keeps talking about it. Klay keeps speaking on it. Klay doesn’t talk about any f****** thing. Klay doesn’t even f****** talk.”
With Green, Curry, and Wiggins, the Warriors have all the pieces they need to be a formidable team. Add in Klay Thompson and James Wiseman, and you’ve got the recipe for a Championship run.
“It is official,” Smith told his “First Take” co-host Molly Qerim. “I’m picking the Golden State Warriors to win the championship. Let me say this to you — Gary Payton, much love to his son, he had a couple of highlight plays last night. I’m a huge fan of Jordan Poole, Damion Lee, these boys, [Juan] Toscano[-Anderson].”
Needless to say, nothing is a guarantee. The season is still so early, there’s no way to tell how things will end.
But make no mistake about it: the Warriors are back, and they’re better than ever.
