The 2019 NBA Draft was loaded with potential. Most notably, it was Ja Morant and Zion Williamson who were the featured stars of the class, and there was major hype surrounding their game.

That night, it was Zion who held the spotlight. Now, six months later, it’s Ja who is taking over the show.

In a statement by one NBA executive, he would have actually taken Morant over Williamson on draft night.

“I wouldn’t have taken him No. 1 even back then,” a Western Conference general manager said. “I would’ve taken Ja [Morant] or traded back to pick up as many picks as I could.”

With Zion set to make his debut tonight, nobody really knows what to expect from the Duke phenom. He hasn’t played in months, and there are still many kinks to his game that have to be worked out.

As for Morant, he is in the middle of a jaw-dropping campaign that has him squarely in contention for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award.

The tables have turned for the 2019 Rookie class and the Grizzlies may have found the face of their franchise. We will see what Zion brings tonight.
