Iman Shumpert Says Kevin Durant Would Have Signed For The Cavaliers If They Beat The Warriors In 2015

Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2016 free agency, and that decision allowed the Golden State Warriors to dominate the rest of the league for a few years. However, things could have turned out very differently.

The Golden State Warriors notably beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015 without the services of Kevin Durant. Iman Shumpert has recently revealed that had the Cavaliers won that matchup, Kevin Durant might have gone to the Cavaliers.

Bootleg Kev: "If we do the what if game, Kyrie is healthy in 2014-15, you guys probably have that ring as well."

Iman Shumpert: "Yeah. And then KD would have came to the Cavs. I know K is gonna be on me for this. He gonna be on me G, but no bulls*it, if we would have won K would have came over there.

There is no question that this is a wild revelation from Iman Shumpert. Imagining Kevin Durant alongside LeBron James and those Cleveland Cavaliers, and him going to Cleveland could have ensured that the Cavaliers would have had a dynasty instead of the Golden State Warriors. Perhaps LeBron James could have won more than just one ring with Cleveland. However, obviously, we don't know how things would have turned out, but it's definitely fun two imagine two of the defining stars of this basketball generation being on the same team.

As of now, LeBron James and Kevin Durant have both won championships since 2015. There have been lots of debates about who is the better player between Durant and James. It is quite possibly a debate that will never be settled. With that being said, many people view LeBron James more favorably on the all-time rankings, but that could change if Kevin Durant wins a few more rings before he retires. Both players will be looking to get to the Finals and win in 2021-22, and we'll see if either is able to do so.
