Last season, the Denver Nuggets struggled to stay afloat without the presence of star guard Jamal Murray, who tore his ACL early into the 2021 playoffs. It has been over a year since we have seen the guy play, and almost just as long since we’ve heard an update about his return.

But in a chat with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the sharpshooting point guard finally broke the silence and got real on what this whole process has been like for him.

“It’s been a learning experience and a test of patience,” Murray told HoopsHype. “Everything happens for a reason. I learned a lot, and I’m excited to be back out there. A championship mindset, a winning attitude, and raising everybody’s level of play. That’s what I do best.”

Last time we saw Murray healthy, he was building a case for being one of the league’s best scorers, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t pick up right where he left off when he takes the court again.

Even after all this time away, he still knows what he brings to the game and the value he has to the Nuggets.

“A championship mindset, a winning attitude, and raising everybody’s level of play,” Murray replied. “That’s what I do best.”

The Nuggets have invested hundreds of millions of dollars into Murray, Nikola Jokic, and Michael Porter Jr. Sadly, only one of them has been consistently healthy.

Next season, the whole basketball world will be waiting to see how dangerous the Nuggets become with a fully healthy team, but there are also a lot of questions about what these guys can do together given their history so far.

Needless to say, the Nuggets (and specifically Murray) will have a lot to prove in the 2022-23 campaign. But they seem ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
