Jayson Tatum Says Dallas Is An Underrated City: “Think That’s A Great Place. They Got Great Fans, A Great Environment.”

Dallas, Texas isn’t usually considered among the big markets in the NBA. Los Angeles, New York, and even San Francisco are usually the teams that generate the most attention.

Still, according to Celtics star Jayson Tatum, Dallas is a city worthy of the hype. As he details in a chat with New Cap Era, it’s an underrated location.

“I don’t know if other people think it’s underrated, but I feel like Dallas is not necessarily like a big market, but I think that’s a great place. They got great fans. You know a great environment, Dallas is a great place to live, and they got the microphone inside the hoop,” said Tatum.

My mom and pops almost got in a fight one game with the fans. I like Philly fans, but they gonna let you know how they feel at the free-throw line, taking the ball out, walking back to the locker room.”

Dallas is obviously a huge football town, being the location of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. It’s also the ninth most populous U.S. city, with a population of 1.3 million people.

Interestingly, the Mavericks have become one of the trendiest teams in basketball, thanks to Marc Cuban and their star, Luka Doncic. If Tatum’s words ring true for others around the association, it might not be long before they end up with another superstar on the roster.
