John Wall returned to action this NBA season after being inactive since 2019, dealing with serious injuries that kept him sidelined for over a year. The player was the biggest figure of the Washington Wizards during his time there but now is trying to lead the Houston Rockets to compete in the Western Conference without any success.

The point guard has always shown a big confidence in himself and recently claimed he still believes he’s one of the best players in the league. Things have been anything but easy for him and the Rockets this season but Wall believes he can still do good things in the association. Amid an injury-plagued season, Wall said he is still an All-Star and one player you’d like to give the ball when it’s hotter than ever.

“I still think I’m an All-Star in this league,” Wall said, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. “I still think I’m a big-time player in this league. In the last two years, there’s a lot of talent that came into this league and there’s a lot of guys that are still in this league that were talented before I got injured. But I feel like when I’m healthy, I can go against the best of them.”

He was a perennial All-Star with the Wizards, making it to 5 straight games from 2014 through 2018. Things changed for him after he started dealing with injuries in the 2018/19 season, missing the next one and returning this campaign, with a new team.

Wall and the Rockets have a lot of work to do if they want to do things better in the upcoming years. They currently boast the worst record in the league, 15-46, as they’re bound to enter a big offseason if they want to go full rebuild mode or try to add the right pieces to build around Wall. Right now, he is averaging 20.6 points, 6.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.
