The NBA each year has several up-and-coming young players who are showing incredible potential to be the next superstar in the league. Luka Doncic was in a similar boat during his very first season in the NBA.

Since his debut with the Dallas Mavericks, Doncic showed the league why he was perhaps the best player in his draft class and why doubting his European League roots was wrong. In the four seasons that Doncic has played in the league so far, he has broken some records and has become a talismanic figure with the Mavericks.

Taking the Mavericks to the Western Conference even, the Slovenian has cemented himself as one of the best players in the league. It seems like former players and pundits have also been noticing Doncic’s greatness. Recently, Kendrick Perkins listed off his top 5 players under the age of 25.

Listing Luka as the best player under 25, Perkins had some hilarious comments about Doncic’s talents.

“He’s not cut up, he’s not chiseled, but he can’t be guarded!…. I call him a baby LeBron minus the athleticism.”

This is not the first time that Perkins has compared Doncic to LeBron James. Back in 2019, the former NBA champion famously compared Luka to LBJ due to his high IQ gameplay and his incredible playmaking ability.

The Slovenian certainly is one of the top stars in the league, and it is astonishing to see that only at the age of 22 years, Doncic has achieved such a long list of achievements. He hasn’t shown any signs of weakness so far as well, improving defensively over the years.

After a season where he led the Mavs to the Conference Finals, the Mavericks will look to add some more talents alongside the 3-time All-Star. While his team continues to get better in the offseason, Doncic will be on national team duty as he will lead the Slovenian team in the upcoming EuroBasket tournament. Can the 22-year-old lead his nation to a EuroBasket championship?
