Kevin Love has been somebody who has been linked with a move away from the Cavaliers ever since it was clear that they were headed for a rebuild. The Cleveland Cavaliers have already parted ways with a veteran in Andre Drummond via buyout, and Love could be next, as his timeline is far different from the young core in Cleveland. While Kevin Love might not be moved immediately, it does feel like he belongs on a contender where he could potentially win a championship.
The Portland Trail Blazers are a destination that could fit Kevin Love's desire to win and provide a personal connection as well. Kevin Love grew up in Portland, and playing for the Trail Blazers would mean that he'd get to play for a hometown team. When asked by Chris Haynes about whether he's open to playing at home, Love stated that it'd be "special" to wear a Trail Blazers jersey, while also suggesting that most people would want to play with Damian Lillard.
By the way, who wouldn't want to play with Dame Lillard, first of all? Dame, he's special... I spent all my formative years, I grew up in Portland... whether it be at the end of my career, whether it be in six months... If I was wearing a Portland jersey, that's special. That's playing at home.
Playing for a hometown team is something that a lot of players don't get to experience, and it would be amazing to see a long-tenured veteran like Love be able to compete for a championship once again. If he were to move to the Portland Trail Blazers, he'd have a chance to do so next to Damian Lillard. It is special to play where you grew up, and Love acknowledges that. While obviously, this doesn't mean that Kevin Love is moving anytime soon, he does seem open to that possibility.
