LeBron James marked his 38th birthday with a memorable performance, as the King erupted for a season-high 47 points in a win over the Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers were trailing at half time and it was close late in the game as well, but James ensured they got over the line in the end.

Fans were in awe of his amazing performance and it is hard to believe that someone of his age can still put on a show like this. LeBron knew he was going to dominate today though, as he told Dennis Schroder before the game that he was going off.

(starts at 0:27 mark):

Dennis Schroder: “You called it. You called it before the game. He said he gonna get 40.”

LeBron James: “I told him before the game so I had to make it happen. After starting 1-5, I didn’t know it was going to happen!”

He called it and to his credit, did it. Not many would have seen it coming after he started the game 1-5, but James went 17-22 after that as he torched the Hawks. The worry is that it is taking such superhuman performances for the Lakers to win games and he needs Anthony Davis to get back as soon as possible.

Darvin Ham Had An Encouraging Update On Anthony Davis

Davis has been on the sidelines for a couple of weeks now with that foot injury he suffered against the Denver Nuggets and this game against the Hawks was just their second win in 7 games without him. There was some talk initially about AD potentially being out for 2-3 months, but head coach Darvin Ham gave an encouraging update on the big man prior to the game.

Ham stated that the pain has just about dissipated for Davis and that he is approaching a ramp-up to return to the court. You might imagine it would still take him well over a week to get back and it will be up to LeBron to make sure they somehow stay afloat in his absence.
