NBA Fans Believe The Third Lakers 'Old Superteam' Will Win The Championship: "They Will Not Repeat Same Mistakes"

This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were quite active and created a phenomenal super team. While the star trio of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis will have everyone's eyes on them. Supporting players like Carmelo Anthony and Rajon will also play a crucial role in the team's success this season.

There is one concern about the team that many fans and analysts have pointed out - the age of the roster. The purple and gold have created a team full of experienced players featuring numerous veterans.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time the franchise has tried this method. The organization experimented with similar strategies on two different occasions in the past.

Back in the 2003-04 season, the management tried to pair up Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal with Karl Malone and Gary Payton. That team went to the NBA Finals but couldn't finish the job.

The second occasion was in the 2012-13 season when Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, and Steve Nash tried to bring a title to the Lakers. The team failed to even make a dent against oppositions come playoff time as they were eliminated in the first round of the postseason.

But maybe the third time will be the charm for the team? Instagram page Basketball Forever shared a post and asked the fans about their views.

Most fans were very positive about the Lakers' chances, noting that the Lakers have players in their prime. Whereas others mentioned the players that didn't get to be in the picture, and what they bring to the table for the Lakers this season. Regardless, fans are looking forward to seeing the new-look Lakers in action.

Qutuboo: "It’s third time the charm lol"

Michael739823: "Ad and Russ still in their prime in my opinion. Bron still a 25ppg and 8 assist player. If they lose while being healthy then bron stays at 3rd all time behind Jordan and Kobe."

Mazzasuniverse: "The only star completely out of their prime is Melo and he still contributes, russ is still allstar all nba talent. AD is young still and lebron is lebron. Nash was 40 and Dwight was NO WHERE CLOSE to Orlando Dwight. Same can be said with Malone and GP. Lakers winning the chip"

Devokindaevil: "2 hall of famers not even in the photo, that’s how stacked the lakers are"

_Praise29_: "There's a major difference between this team and the last two"

Mikieikey: "and i like how they dont include DeAndre Jordan in nothing neither"

Avi.Tier: "There isn’t any huge tensions between the star players, so maybe it will work"

Thisisjamieson: "Revenge tour this year lakers got it"

Nate._'.ruix: "This team is different considering the mentality they all gonna have wen the season starts to win. They know they have a role to play and it will pay off"

Yesitssig: "None of them smiling. It’s go time."

Despite the experiment failing on two separate occasions, fans believe this time it will be different. Moreover, the team is built much better and the focus of the team - AD, Russ, and LBJ - are still in a pretty great place in their careers.

So, the only thing that might stop the Lakers on their tracks is injury issues. If they can manage that aspect perfectly, it is hard not to see them bring the 2022 NBA championship to the Staples Center.
