It’s not good news for the Los Angeles Lakers as their big man Anthony Davis is set to miss a month of basketball action following his foot injury against the Denver Nuggets.

Earlier, it was reported that Davis had “foot soreness” and would miss the game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday. With this, the Lakers will be without the services of their star for the next seven games to be played in December.

The news was reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who tweeted:

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is expected to miss at least one month after suffering a right foot injury, multiple sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

The center subbed out of the game with a couple of minutes remaining in the first quarter and returned in the second. However, his struggles were clearly visible.

NBA Fans React To Anthony Davis’ Latest Injury Update: “And There Goes The Season”

Needless to say, fans were mighty upset with the news. Davis has been a vital cog in the Lakers’ lineup averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists this season.

In his absence, much of the offensive load will be on LeBron James (who has missed a few games himself and is dealing with ankle soreness), and Russell Westbrook. Their defense takes a bit of a dent with the 30-year-old on the sidelines.

Safe to say, the above reactions are a mix of frustration and despair. The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Los Angeles, and now their trade situation becomes all the more critical with Davis being out of action for a month.

The next stretch of Lakers games is crucial and plays a role in deciding their playoff chances. Only time will tell if the side can hold its own against teams that pose stern tests. The Lakers play the Washington Wizards on Sunday, followed by an away fixture against the Phoenix Suns.
