Russell Westbrook has had a target on his back throughout the summer. The former NBA MVP failed to impress the organization and the fanbase with his performances last season. As a result, the Lakers have been trying to trade him all offseason, but failed to find a good deal for him.
Following that, the organization shifted its focus to adding more supporting pieces to the roster. They did so by trading for Patrick Beverley. While Beverley is an elite defender and can shoot the ball from deep as well, there is a huge concern about how he will fit on the team with Russell Westbrook.
Surprisingly, the two players have gotten past their drama already. So much so that Pat Bev has even labeled Russ as his best friend.
Robert Horry Calls Out Patrick Beverley And Russell Westbrook For Faking Their Friendship
Pat Bev and Russ have faced off against each other a lot of times in his career. And more often than not, the two players have had altercations with each other.
However, since joining the Lakers, they have seemingly become friends. Former NBA player Robert Horry believes it is impossible to do so after butting heads for so many years.
Via EssentiallySports:
He [Patrick Beverley] caused you to be out half the season messing up your knee. He’s caused a lot of havoc in your life. What can I do to soften this guy up? Did he do that to soften him up? Because to me, they never had no love and all this brotherhood come from and how they best friends. I call b******t on that one.”
What Horry said has been doubted by many fans, but they are hoping that this isn’t true. But the way in which Horry puts this point will once again make them question the strength of the two players’ friendship. Hopefully, they can maintain this friendship throughout the regular and postseason. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the Lakers to win another NBA Champion.
