Shannon Sharpe: “LeBron Is Going To Win The Title This Year, And Repeat Next Year.”

2 Min Read

At 35-years-old, LeBron James is in the twilight of his career. After 16 seasons, over a thousand games, and countless minutes, one has to assume the end is near for him.

But, according to Fox’s Shannon Sharpe, the “end” won’t come without two more Championships.

“We’re gonna win the title, there’s nothing you or anyone else can do about it and we’re gonna leave no doubt in anyone’s mind that we’re the GOAT, we’ve been the GOAT the last three years. We don’t like to use that term because we’re still playing — they want to wait until our career is over so they can evaluate us properly. I ain’t waiting that long: we the GOAT right now and we’re gonna win the title this year and we’re gonna repeat next year.”

The Lakers were certainly on track to win the title this season. They had the best record in the West and beat every one of their top competitors at least once over the course of the season.

Even at 35, James has been playing at an elite level — averaging 25 points, 7.9 rebounds, and a career-high 10.6 assists per game on 49% shooting. If he can continue that for the next few years, who’s to say the Lakers can’t also repeat the dominance they have displayed this season?

I guess only time will tell at this point.
