The Brooklyn Nets are 9-1 in their last 10 games and are officially the in-form team in the NBA. The Nets have been playing at an elite level and have gotten all their main players back, finding the right balance. Kevin Durant is playing incredibly well, as is Kyrie Irving, and the likes of Yuta Watanabe, Ben Simmons, and Seth Curry are all contributing as well.

Kyrie Irving may still not be rated very highly by some around the NBA world, but his recent influence on the Nets cannot be questioned. The team has come together under Jacques Vaughn, and it looks like they might start challenging at the top of the Eastern Conference as the season goes on. But not everybody is fully convinced by the Brooklyn Nets yet.

Shannon Sharpe Isn’t Sold On The Brooklyn Nets Despite Their Recent Winning Run

In the last 10 games they have played, the only team with a positive record the Nets have beaten was the Portland Trail Blazers, who were missing Damian Lillard. Their only loss in this stretch came against the Celtics. And while winning 9 games in10 is always impressive, their schedule hasn’t been the toughest, as pointed out by Shannon Sharpe.

“Pretenders. They’re not beating the Bucks, the Celtics, not sure they can beat the Sixers, healthy Joel Embiid and James Harden, Maxey is going to come back at some point in time.

“Of those eight wins that have come since Nov. 27, only one of those wins have come against a team with a winning record, that was the (Portland) Trail Blazers without Damian Lillard.

“You’re 28th in rebounds per game, you’re 27th in rebound differential, 25th in opponent’s offensive rebounds and you’re 29th in opponent’s 3-point shooting, which is a recipe for what?

“To get your doors blown off. The Bucks are a very good rebounding team. … You have no chance of beating those two teams in the Eastern Conference.”

This is an intense take from Sharpe, although not an invalid one. Beating the likes of the Pacers, Wizards, and Magic is good, but nothing that wouldn’t be a basic expectation for a top team. The good news for the Nets is that their schedule continues to look quite light, with only the Cavaliers and the Bucks posing as big threats in the next 7 games. If they can continue winning, well, then even Sharpe might have to acknowledge that they have something good going.
