Skip Bayless: ‘LeBron James Desperately Needs To Win His 5th MVP To Tie Michael Jordan’

2 Min Read

LeBron James’ chase for the G.O.A.T. status is no secret. From donning the number 23, to outright stating his desire to reach the top of the basketball hierarchy, the intentions of King James are clear: he wants to be the best.

And while LeBron’s resume alone is enough for some people, the “King” still has some catching up to do if he wants to really reach Jordan’s tier.

This season, Bron actually has the chance to win his 5th MVP — which would tie MJ’s number. According to Skip Bayless, James needs the award now more than ever, because it could be his last chance to win it.

“He desperately needs the 5th MVP to tie Jordan and the odds are probably against him to win MVP next year or the next year cause they will obviously be in decline because of father-time.”

At 35-years-old, LeBron is certainly closer to the end than the beginning. One has to wonder just how much he has left in the tank after all these years.

This year really may be his last chance to win the award, tie Jordan, and further cement his case for being the G.O.A.T. If he happens to win the title, it’d do even more for his cause.

But between the Coronavirus, the NBA suspension, and Giannis’ own MVP campaign, one could argue that James is an underdog to win anything this year. The fact is, he’d need a miracle to match MJ’s accomplishments now and the odds are certainly against him.

But if we’ve learned anything about LeBron James, it’s that we should never count him out, not even when it appears to be the end of the line. He never stops fighting — so who’s to say he’ll stop now?
