If the Brooklyn Nets don’t get mentioned this offseason again, they will still have been the most talked about team of this summer. This is odd, considering that the organization looks more or less entirely the same at the moment. The Head Coach and General Manager haven’t changed, and despite all the noise, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant will both return to play in Brooklyn next season.
With their latest statement, the mood around the team has changed, and the odds of them winning the NBA title next season have suddenly been slashed. But it seems that the Nets might not be content with bringing back the roster they have. If John Gambadoro of Arizonasports.com is to be believed, the Nets are interested in adding another star to the roster.
Couple things on Donovan Mitchell. The Hawks, Heat & Kings are NOT interested contrary to reports. Knicks still have the best package to offer but other teams interested are Cleveland, Washington, Charlotte, LA Lakers & Brooklyn. And no the Jazz never asked for 7 1st round picks!

It’s interesting to think about the Nets somehow adding to their superteam at this point, this would be a massive statement if they did. However, their draft capital is a little exhausted after the James Harden deal, and the New York Knicks can offer a much sweeter deal than the Nets can to the Utah Jazz.
A lot of this probably depends on Ben Simmons and how he’s looking after a year out, but he has been working out all summer. The Nets already have a team that is contending to win the championship, adding Mitchell to that would almost be excessive. Their reported interest is telling in one way, though, as the franchise is absolutely committed to trying and securing that championship next season.
