With the February 6th trade deadline getting close, NBA fans have their eyes peeled and their notifications turned on for the latest trade updates. And it appears things might get even more exciting, as 17 NBA stars are eligible to be traded after January 15th. This list of players includes some notable names such as Tyrese Maxey, Max Christie, OG Anunoby, and Nic Claxton. You can see the full list below.
Players eligible for trade after January 15th:
1. Tyrese Maxey – Point Guard (Philadelphia 76ers)
2. Immanuel Quickley – Point Guard (Toronto Raptors)
3. Isaiah Joe – Shooting Guard (Oklahoma City Thunder)
4. Malik Monk – Shooting Guard (Sacramento Kings)
5. Max Christie – Shooting Guard (Los Angeles Lakers)
6. OG Anunoby – Small Forward (New York Knicks)
7. Miles Bridges – Small Forward (Charlotte Hornets)
8. Haywood Highsmith – Small Forward (Miami Heat)
9. Aaron Wiggins – Small Forward (Oklahoma City Thunder)
10. KJ Martin – Small Forward (Philadelphia 76ers)
11. Josh Okogie – Small Forward (Phoenix Suns)
12. Johnny Juzang – Small Forward (Utah Jazz)
13. Patrick Williams – Power Forward (Chicago Bulls)
14. Obi Toppin – Power Forward (Indiana Pacers)
15. Nic Claxton – Center (Brooklyn Nets)
16. Goga Bitadze – Center (Orlando Magic)
17. Precious Achiuwa – Center (New York Knicks)
Now, it should be noted that many of these players becoming eligible for a trade does not guarantee them being traded. This just means that should their respective teams want to use them as assets in a trade or receive offers for them that they want to accept, they can do so without any restriction from the NBA.
Which Of These Players Are Likely To Be Traded?
Out of all the players mentioned above, perhaps no player is less likely to get traded than Tyrese Maxey. Maxey is an All-Star caliber player, and the 76ers know that he is the future of their franchise. Expect him to stay put exactly where he is.
Immanuel Quickley could find his way out of Toronto, as the Raptors are not developing at a pace suitable to his timeline. Sending him to a team in need of a point guard might be the smart play.
Firstly, any player on the Oklahoma City Thunder not in the starting lineup or a key rotation figure has to be considered a trade asset, as the Thunder are one of the many teams expected to make some big moves ahead of the deadline. So Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins should both be considered possible candidates for a trade.
Malik Monk is a bit of a wildcard, as there is uncertainty as to what direction the Sacramento Kings are going in. But if the right deal presents itself to them, and with De’Aaron Fox’s volatile situation, do not be surprised to see Monk get traded to another team before February 6th.
Max Christie could be one of the players who makes a move before February 6th. Given that the Lakers are still not satisfied with their roster so far, he could be used to help land a game-changing player for their team.
OG Anunoby just re-signed with the Knicks this summer, and he is a key part of their championship core. He is unlikely to be traded anytime soon. Miles Bridges could be a player the Hornets choose to trade away, but their future is so inconsistent right now that there is no way to predict whether they pull the trigger on any big trade.
As for Haywood Highsmith, much of his future might be dependent on the Jimmy Butler trade. There is a small, but not insignificant chance that he might be used as a makeweight for salaries in any trade the Heat made for Butler.
The Phoenix Suns desperately need to make some changes. And while Josh Okogie has been a strong performer for them, should the right player come along, Okogie will be made available in a trade.
The same goes for Patrick Williams, although the Bulls might try and retain him as he has shown real signs of promise, and could be a valuable asset to their impending rebuild.
Johnny Juzang is a low-level contributor at best, and given that the Jazz are trying to tank, holding on to him might make sense. Don’t expect him to be a name floating around in mock trades.
KJ Martin might get traded if the Philadelphia 76ers choose to get active in the trade market. But as of now, we have not heard any rumblings about them as a potential landing spot in any trade.
Obi Toppin is a player who could be on the move, as the Pacers have begun making some calls to land another star-level player as they look to take the next step this season.
Nic Claxton has to be considered likely as a trade candidate, as the Brooklyn Nets are shopping around almost all of their players in an effort to recoup assets for their rebuild. He has been considered a core piece for the Nets in the past, but his underwhelming performances this season might see him move away from Brooklyn.
Goga Bitadze is a key member of the Orlando Magic’s rotation. So far, he has done a good job on the team and has become a solid contributor, especially in the absence of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner’s size. And with the way he has been playing, they are going to want to keep a hold of him past the trade deadline.
And when it comes to Precious Achiuwa, there is a non-zero chance at best that the Knicks trade him, as he is their backup center. Given their lack of depth at the position due to Mitchell Robinson’s injury problems, he will not be a player the Knicks consider trading unless they can find a replacement in the open market.
All of these players could find themselves on new teams come February 6th. Stay tuned to Fadeaway World for the latest trade news, rumors, and round-the-clock coverage.
