As a former No. 1 overall pick himself, Anthony Davis knows what it is like to be in the same situation. With the entire basketball community’s eyes set on your future, Davis shared a heartfelt message to show support for Dallas’ newest star.
Paige Bueckers will join the Sky after a tremendous season with the UConn Huskies. After averaging 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, Bueckers established herself as a top-tier candidate in this year’s draft.
Bueckers joins the WNBA as part of a new generation of athletes who could potentially redefine the league. With players such as Caitlin Clark already doing wonders for the WNBA, it will be interesting to see what the former Huskies guard will bring to the table in Dallas.
Meanwhile, the Wings’ NBA counterpart, the Dallas Mavericks, will hope to secure a place in the NBA playoffs this week.
After a gruelling season, the Mavs found themselves clinching the tenth-seed, barely hanging onto a Play-In tournament position. They will look to their star, Anthony Davis, to lead the side in their upcoming games.
Davis has been criticized for his performances and unavailability throughout the season. However, since being traded to Dallas, he has been fairly solid. With an average of 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, he has had an impact on the team in the few games he has played in.
Unfortunately, the Mavericks are heading into the Play-In games severely shorthanded. With Kyrie Irving out of the rotation with an injury, the Mavs are seriously lacking in offensive firepower. The need to depend on Davis under these circumstances is understandable.
To their benefit, the ten-time All-Star has been solid on both ends of the floor. In his last game, the big man put up an impressive triple-double of 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists, along with seven blocks, to secure a 124-102 win against the Toronto Raptors.
The Dallas Mavericks are set to face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night at the Golden 1 Center at 10 pm ET. Although the odds don’t favor the Mavs, they will attempt to keep their postseason aspirations alive by winning this game.
