Draymond Green may not be a very popular figure in the NBA, but his teammates love him as he almost always has their back on the court. That side of Green was on display during Saturday’s game between the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena, as leaked audio captured him roasting Caris LeVert for talking trash to Jonathan Kuminga.

Caris Levert: “You a**.”

Jonathan Kuminga: “You can’t guard me.”

LeVert: “You a**.”

Kuminga: “Guard me 1-on-1… guard me.”

LeVert: “You a**, you know it too.”

Kuminga: “F*** out of here.”

LeVert: “You know it too.”

Draymond Green: “You’ve been traded seven times.”

Levert: “You a**”

Kuminga: “Guard me 1 on 1… guard me”

LeVert: “You a**, you know it too”

Kuminga: “F*ck out of here”

Then, Draymond Green intervenes and defends Kuminga:

That was brutal. Trae Young tried to calm everyone down, but Green had already fried LeVert with that comment. Of course, that number was an exaggeration, as the guard has been traded four times in his career so far.

The Indiana Pacers drafted LeVert with the 20th pick of the 2016 NBA Draft but he was traded soon after to the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets would trade him back to the Pacers in 2021 but he wouldn’t be in Indiana for too long.

The Pacers shipped LeVert to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022 and he’d be with the franchise for three years. Then, on Feb. 6, 2025, the Cavaliers traded the 30-year-old to the Hawks as part of the package for De’Andre Hunter.

LeVert has impressed for the Hawks, averaging 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 49.7% from the field. He had a solid outing against the Warriors too, recording 14 points (6-11 FG), two rebounds, and six assists off the bench as the Hawks won 124-115. LeVert will be a free agent this offseason and it will be interesting to see if the Hawks try to retain him.

As for Green, he may have won that war of words but struggled in the game. The four-time All-Star put up five points (2-7 FG), six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and one block against the Hawks. Green wasn’t able to have the kind of impact on defense you’d expect, with the hosts shooting 57.0% from the field.

Kuminga, meanwhile, finished with 16 points (6-14 FG), two rebounds, and two assists off the bench. While he gave the Warriors a bit of a spark offensively, he had a game-low plus-minus of -18. Like LeVert, Kuminga is set to hit free agency (restricted) this summer and you wonder how the Warriors will handle that situation.

This loss snapped the Warriors’ two-game winning streak and dropped them to 41-30 with this loss. They were without Stephen Curry for this clash, but he could be back soon. Curry has joined the Warriors on this road trip and could potentially play in their next game against the Miami Heat at Kaseya Center on Tuesday at 7:30 PM ET.
