Luka Doncic‘s transformation has been one of the hottest topics around the league, as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has generated a lot of buzz for his efforts in the offseason. Although this has been greeted with skepticism, a report crossed a line by asking whether the superstar used Ozempic to aid his weight-loss journey.

In a recent interview on the “Today Show”, Doncic answered several questions regarding his fitness regimen, mentioning that he even left basketball for a month. Visibly impressed, a reporter asked a controversial follow-up question. He asked:

“So it’s just diet and exercise, that’s it? No Ozempic, none of those shots or anything?”

Doncic simply responded by nodding his head and saying, “No.”

The reporter’s statement is considered controversial for two reasons. One, the use of a weight-loss drug like Ozempic could be frowned upon in both NBA circles and the broader media. Two, such a statement indirectly discredits the kind of effort Doncic has put in to get into shape over the offseason.

Doncic’s approach to conditioning required him to make a drastic lifestyle shift. A challenging workout routine, inspired by Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, was complemented by a strict diet plan designed to meet his transformation goals.

His hard work paid off with a feature in Men’s Health, a milestone he can take pride in.

After facing significant criticism for his conditioning, the guard used it as fuel to focus on his health and physique. The commitment to the grind has been a positive sight for Lakers fans, who are excited to see what he can produce on the court next season.

The 26-year-old reflected on how effective he already was before focusing on conditioning. With an average of 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game, many argue that he was an MVP-caliber player as well.

It sets the stage for a promising campaign in the upcoming season, especially in light of what the team is poised to achieve. With the addition of some gifted players in the offseason, the Purple and Gold will hope to emerge as a contender in the West, though they may still fall just shy of that status on paper.

Regardless, anchored by a star duo of LeBron James and Luka Doncic, the Lakers are still a threat in the West. With additional reports suggesting that Doncic is in a “win now” mindset, the Purple and Gold will hope that the Slovenian will put his best foot forward next season in bringing another championship to the city.
