Ja Morant has never been one to shy away from the spotlight, but this time, it was his father, Tee Morant, who found himself at the center of controversy. During the Memphis Grizzlies’ matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Tee was ejected from the game after repeatedly arguing with officials and making what referees deemed “overtly disrespectful comments.”

The incident sparked a wave of reactions, with former NBA player Kenyon Martin delivering an impassioned rant, calling Tee out for his behavior.

“I’m in a position to f**king speak on it. It ain’t about you, dawg. Sit your a** in there and watch your f**king son play, dawg. Cheer him on.”

“Okay, you don’t agree with the call? Okay, you can voice it to a certain degree. Shut the f**k up and watch your son play, dawg.”

“My son in the NBA. I played in the NBA. I think I’m well-knowledgeable of this f**king game. I sit in that motherf***er and don’t say nothing to them people, dawg, because it ain’t about me. It’s about him.”

“You embarrassing him, dawg. It ain’t about you. It ain’t about you, dawg. It’s about your son.”

Kenyon Martin, the No. 1 pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, didn’t hold back when discussing Tee Morant’s actions on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast. He expressed his frustration with how Tee constantly inserts himself into games, making it about himself rather than his son.

Martin emphasized that being a parent of an NBA player doesn’t mean taking the spotlight away from them. He drew from his own experiences, saying that despite his son, Kenyon Martin Jr., playing in the NBA, he never felt the need to make scenes at games.

While Kenyon Martin’s words carried a serious tone, Ja Morant didn’t seem bothered at all. The Grizzlies’ star took to X (formerly Twitter) and responded with a simple laughing emoji, seemingly brushing off the criticism aimed at his father.

Ja’s lighthearted response indicates that he either disagrees with Martin or simply doesn’t care about public opinion on his father’s behavior. However, this isn’t the first time Tee Morant has been a topic of discussion. He has been a highly visible figure at Grizzlies games, often engaging in playful banter with players and referees, and even having viral moments with Shannon Sharpe in past seasons.

This isn’t the first time Tee Morant’s courtside behavior has made headlines. Over the years, he has been known to be one of the most outspoken parents in the NBA, often celebrating, talking trash, and sometimes getting into verbal altercations.

While some see his presence as endearing and supportive, others feel it has crossed the line at times. With Ja Morant being one of the NBA’s most high-profile players, scrutiny surrounding his family and off-court antics will likely remain a hot topic.

Kenyon Martin’s fiery criticism of Tee Morant was meant to highlight how some NBA parents overstep boundaries and make things about themselves rather than their children. While Martin’s take may resonate with some fans, Ja Morant’s laughing reaction suggests that he sees no issue with his father’s actions.

Regardless of where fans stand, one thing is certain—Tee Morant will continue to be one of the most talked-about NBA dads for as long as his son remains a superstar in the league.
