With the offseason dwindling down, we’re now only a few weeks out from the start of a new NBA season — and Adam Silver is making sure it starts off with a bang.

As revealed by The Athletic’s Shams Charania on Sunday, the first matchup between the Lakers and Clippers will happen on October 20th at Crypto.com arena.

The first Lakers-Clippers game of the 2022-23 NBA season is scheduled for Oct. 20 at Crypto.com Arena, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

LeBron James-Anthony Davis vs. Kawhi Leonard-Paul George again for the first time since Dec. 22, 2020.

This isn’t the season opener for L.A. Instead, they will head to San Francisco for a date with the defending champs.

We’re yet to see the full calendar for the next season, but at least we have a Christmas Day duel and now one of the first games of the term. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Lakers will visit the Golden State Warriors on October 18 to start the new season.

“Scheduled for the NBA’s 2022-23 opening night and ring ceremony on TNT: Lakers at Warriors, Oct. 18,” Charania wrote.

No doubt, the first few games will be a battle for the Lakers that will test their capabilities as a team. Last season, we saw a lot of dysfunction both on the court and in the locker room as the “Big Three” never really found a way to make things work.

This upcoming season, nobody knows what the Lakers will even look like, much less how well they will play. With no trade for Kyrie currently in the works, the Purple and Gold will have to move on with Westbrook for a least one more run.

The Clippers, meanwhile, are just hoping they can stay healthy. With the roster they have, they can really make some waves in the West and finally re-write the narrative that has hung over the franchise for years.
