It didn’t take too long for the Philadelphia 76ers to finish their investigation on the incident that involved Russell Westbrook and a fan who threw popcorn at the Washington Wizards player.

After twinking his ankle, Russ was escorted by team’s personal and event staff as he left the court. Somebody thought it would be funny to pour popcorn on the player, and obviously, he didn’t like that.

He was furious and attempted to go look for this fan to fight him probably, but he was held by those around him. Footage shows somebody throwing popcorn at Russ, not by accident.

The Wells Fargo Center issued a statement condemning these actions. Additionally, the team has announced that this fan has gotten their season ticket revoked and is banned from future events at the venue.

After an investigation into the incident that occurred at last night’s game, we have determined that the person involved will have his season ticket membership revoked, effectively immediately. In addition, he will be banned from all events at Wells Fargo Center indefinitely.

We apologize to Russell Westbrook and the Washington Wizards for being subjected to this type of unacceptable and disrespectful behavior. There is no place for it in our sport or arena.

Westbrook and several NBA stars weren’t happy with this situation. Players are getting mocked in the arenas and this could have led to something worse if Brodie wasn’t held. This is the decision that everybody expected and the Sixers acted quickly on that.
